Find Your Niche
You know the easiest way to succeed in any business? Get specific. Define your target market in detail. Find your niche. This is as true for microblading as it is for banking or fitness or selling cars. The more defined your niche is, the more you’ll stand out in that niche.
So, what’s your niche?
It probably seems difficult to define at first, but trust us, it isn’t. Just ask yourself: what type of clients do I do very good work on? What type of clients do I enjoy working with the most? What type of clients seem to gravitate towards me? What type of clients do I absolutely notwant to work with?
Answer these questions as specifically as you can, and you’ve just defined your niche. Maybe you’re best with women between thirty and thirty-five who are in the upper middle class. Maybe you’re best with men under thirty looking for scalp micropigmentation. Whatever your particular case, find your niche and you’re one step closer to success.
Get Visual
Did you know people watch more than 500 million hours of video on YouTube every day? How about the fact that more video content is uploaded in a single month than major television networks have created in 30 years? What about the staggering statistic that one-third of all online activity is watching videos?
The message is clear: the future is here and the future is video.
Using video (and to a lesser extent images) is a great way to market your microblading business. The question then becomes how to start creating videos like a pro? This one’s easy to answer. There are a lot of video creation tools out there. We’re partial to Animoto, which is easy to use, inexpensive, and can create some very professional videos.
You can make videos of yourself performing a microblading procedure, of the benefits of microblading, of tips and tricks to help the healing process, and so much more. Once you have the videos, it’s time to start distributing them on – drumroll please – social media!
Social Media is Your Hidden Weapon
83% of permanent cosmetic professionals use social media to market themselves. It’s a saturated social media world out there. The name of the game is standing out from the crowd by producing and sharing top quality content on the right social channels.
You’re well on your way if you’ve defined your niche and started creating engaging videos. Now you have to figure out which social media networks you should be on and which are worth avoiding.
An obvious first thought is Instagram. Instagram is great for all things visual…but it may not be great for marketing your microblading business. The social channel you want to invest time, energy, and even some money on ads into is the social channel where your niche is spending their time.
If your niche veers younger, it’s time to jump on IG and Snapchat. If your niche veers older, Facebook and Pinterest are your friends. If your niche is techy, it’s all about Twitter.
After mastering social media, it’s time to turn your attention to already existing clients to produce the golden ticket of all potential clients: the referral.
Referrals, Referrals, Referrals
Create a list of your current clients. Start reaching out to them and let them know you offer incentives if they refer clients to you. These incentives can be whatever you’re comfortable with, but make it something worthwhile. A $5 coupon probably isn’t going to cut it.
Once you start getting referrals, offer them the same deal. We call this the exponential referral trick. If done properly, you’re going to start seeing some serious interest as the new referrals start flooding in and your calendar gets booked.
